President

The Graduate and Professional Student Association (GPSA) is the official student government representing ASU graduate and professional students. GPSA is looking for graduate students to fulfill leadership positions for the 2018-2019 academic year. This is an excellent opportunity to develop and apply professional skills, to build your CV, and to serve fellow graduate students. To apply, you must be a graduate/professional student at ASU and enrolled in at least one unit of graduate student study during the fall and spring semesters.

All Positions:

  • Run from June 13, 2018 through May 13, 2019*
  • Require a 5-10 hr/week commitment, both in-person and independent work
  • Report directly to GPSA’s elected leadership
  • Are accompanied by a $5,000 scholarship ($2,500/semester)

*May be required to have transition meetings before the position officially begins

Director of Public Relations
This position oversees and coordinates GPSA’s public relations team, including the Director of Marketing, Director of Communications, Director of Information Technology, and the Outreach Directors. They will host bi-weekly meetings with the team to streamline marketing, communications, and outreach across all of GPSA’s departments and campuses. They will also manage the master calendar of all GPSA sponsored programming and events. Required duties include regular conversations with graduate student organizations and ASU departments to promote GPSA programs and activities.

Ideal candidates should be: organized, accessible, initiative taking, familiar with public relations strategies, collaborative, communicative, familiar with creating marketing materials (i.e., skills in graphic design, photoshop, and other softwares), and comfortable working with deadlines. Management experience is preferred.

Director of Marketing
This position will be responsible for producing and concepting creative assets for marketing GPSA events, initiatives, and programs in collaboration with the Director of Public Relations. Marketing includes but is not limited to: graphic design for print and digital media, social media, GPSA product and promotional items, video projects, and other duties as needed. This position will support all GPSA departments, and participate in bi-weekly meetings with the GPSA communications team.

Ideal candidates should be: experienced using the Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign), Adobe Spark, fluent with social media advertising strategies, able to manage a complex workflow including outreach to production vendors.

Director of Communications
This position oversees GPSA’s internal and external communications. Required duties include assisting with marketing efforts for all GPSA offices, managing GPSA social media sites, collaborating with Campus Outreach Directors to streamline communication across all campuses, recording budget transactions, and handling media requests. This position will also participate in bi-weekly meetings with the GPSA communications team.

Ideal candidates should be: an excellent communicator, accessible, organized, fast working, initiative taking, technologically savvy (especially with social media), collaborative, familiar with creating marketing materials (i.e., skills in graphic design, photoshop, and other softwares), and comfortable working with deadlines.
